It appears that the surname Yoe was originally spelled Yeo. Yeo is an English surname, derived from the word “yeoman”.

father: John Yoe born July 29, 1750 in Port Republic, MD (Calvert County)

mother: Catherine Skinner born 1765 in Calvert Co., MD; died Sept. 17, 1782 in Calvert Co., MD. She was the 1st wife of John Yoe. They married March 1781 at St. James Parish, Anne Arundel Co., MD. According to Maryland Births and Christenings, John and Catherine Skinner Yoe had a son, Benjamin Skinner Yoe born Sept. 4, 1782 at Christ Church in Port Republic, MD (Calvert Co.). If this information is correct, then Catherine would have died about 2 weeks after giving birth.

Benjamin F. Yoe's wife: Susanna Amos Yoe

said to have died about 1809
