Grace LaDene Colson Parsons, 81, of Idaho Falls, passed away Aug. 7, 2010, in Arco from a heart attack.

LaDene was born Dec. 25, 1928, in Idaho Falls to Robert "Bob" Colson and Ellen Pedersen Colson. She and her twin sister, LaRene, were Christmas gifts from God. She learned the value of hard work growing up on a dry farm in Swan Valley with seven brothers and sisters. She graduated from Idaho Falls High School.

She married Donald LaRoy Parsons on Sept. 6, 1950, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They started their family in Springfield, Idaho, then moved to Idaho Falls in 1959, where their family continued to grow. While art, music and her family were her true passions, she also worked as a secretary and a bookkeeper. Don preceded her in death Dec. 15, 2009.

LaDene was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Idaho Falls 7th Ward. She served as a Primary chorister, in the Cub Scout program, in the Relief Society and sang with the ward choir, amongst other things.

LaDene was a member of the Idaho Old Time Fiddlers, Toastmasters Club and Sweet Adelines. She loved playing music with her children, painting, doing crossword and jigsaw puzzles, and cooking Danish pancakes for family and friends. She dearly enjoyed singing and yodeling with her many fellow musicians, who became extended family. Mom taught us the true meaning of unconditional love. She filled our hearts with music.

Survivors include her children, Donald Albert (Sharon Codding Shoemaker) Parsons and Michael Allen (Linda Scheer) Parsons, both of Bozeman, Mont., JoAnne Christensen, DeeAnne (Robert Johnson) Bush and Cori Murphy, all of Idaho Falls, Robert William "Bill" Parsons of Boise, Jeffrey Dell (Gale Phillips) Parsons of Nashville, Tenn., and Kathy Anne (Kevin) Descharme of Terreton; siblings, Robert (Janice) Colson, Steven (Donna) Colson, Jim (Sharon) Colson and Mary VanNoy, all of St. George, Utah, Karen (Neil) Hill of Lava Hot Springs, Kathy (Bill) Egan of Arimo and twin sister LaRene (Vern) Smith of Ucon; four grandchildren, Thomas Paul, Jayson (Nichole) Bush, Eric Wood and Tessa Egan; and a great-granddaughter, Joelene Phillips. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and granddaughter, Shawnee Christensen.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 11, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge Ave., with Bishop Johnson of the Idaho Falls LDS 7th Ward officiating. The family will visit with friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Wednesday, both at the funeral home. Burial will be in Springfield Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www .woodfuneralhome.com.
