Rosie R. Flanagan

Rosie Rebecca Flanagan, 89, a former resident of Coalton and of the Laurel View Apartments, passed away Sunday, Sept. 22, 2002, at 10 p.m. at her residence in Belington, where she had made her home with her daughter, Louise, son, Ray, and son-in-law, Ralph since Aug. 11, 2000.

She was born May 30, 1913, at Falls Mill near Sutton, a daughter of the late John and Mary Butcher Hamilton.

On Dec. 12, 1930, she was united in marriage to Clarence Lee Flanagan, who preceded her in death on April 11, 1972.

Preceding her in death besides her parents and husband were a daughter, Helen Virginia Flanagan; four sons, Junior, Amos, Roger and Stanley Flanagan; two sisters, Retha Bunnell and Winnie Cleland; three brothers, Bill, Denver and Lewis Hamilton; a grandson, Robert Kisner; and a great-grandson, Jacob Flanagan. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

She is survived by four daughters, Louise Esposito of Belington, Mae Flanagan of Melbourne, Fla., Lucille Spencer of Junior, and Betty Spencer of Buckhannon; four sons, Earl Flanagan, Bud Flanagan and Ray Flanagan, all of Belington, and Paul Flanagan of Coalton; 39 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was a homemaker and a member of Stringtown United Methodist Church.

Friends will be received at F.E. Runner Funeral Home Chapel today after 7 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted from the Runner chapel Thursday at 3 p.m. The Rev. Arden Beck, pastor of the Belington United Methodist Circuit will officiate. Interment will follow in Mt. State Memorial Gardens at Gilman.
