LAYTON - Woodrow Ray Blackner, beloved husband and father passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family on Saturday June 4, 2005. Ray was born April 21, 1917 in Lyman, Wyoming to Leonard Ray Blackner and Bessie Louise Briggs. He married his sweetheart, Wanda Elsie Harvey on September 4, 1937. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on December 15,1943. Ray was a member of the LDS Church and attended the Central Ward in Layton. He loved the outdoors, which included camping, hunting, fishing, and rock hunting. He knew the value of hard work and its special rewards. In addition to his career as a Barber he worked for Union Pacific, Mt. Fuel and later retired from HAFB in 1980. Ray served his country dutifully in the US Military in WWII. Ray is survived by his wife; Wanda Blackner, one daughter, Eloise Weaver and two sons, Tyler (Kathy) Blackner and Colin (Christie) Blackner, 14 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great- grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Rebecca Blackner (his twin), Nina Blackner Hull, one brother Leonard Blackner, his twin sons, Byron and Blaine and one son-in-law, Dave Weaver. Special thanks to Odyssey Hospice Care, Dr. Steven Tucker and the many caring staff members for their wonderful thoughtful care. Funeral services will be held Tuesday June 7, 2005 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist's Layton Mortuary, 1867 North Fairfield Road, Layton, UT. Friends may call at the mortuary Monday June 6, 2005 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Tuesday 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. Interment, Lindquist's Layton Mortuary, 1868 North Fairfield Road, Layton, UT.
