Claude P. Brooks, 61, rural route 2, Galena, was pronounced dead on arrival at 4:30 a.m. Wednesday morning in St. John's Medical Center at Joplin, Mo., of an apparent heart attack at his home.
Mr. Brooks was born October 9, 1911 at Galena, Kansas, and had lived here his entire life.
He was a miner and a farmer by trade having retired two months ago.
He was united in marriage to Mrs. Marie Gandy on Oct. 11, 1938 at Bentonville, Arkansas.
Loved ones who survive are his wife, Marie Brooks of the home; one son, Sam Brooks, The Dallas, Oregon; a daughter, Claudine Coyle, Rogers, Arkansas; two stepdaughters, Allene Schroeder, rt. 1 Galena, Nadine Percy of Hiawatha, Kansas; one brother, Murrell Brooks, Galena; two sisters, June Hansbraugh and Ann Pittman, both of Galena; eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and a host of friends.
Arrangements to be announced by Derfelt Funeral Home of Galena.
