Barta Services Held

Funeral services were held Sunday at 3 p.m. from the St. James Catholic Church for Jeff Barta, who died at his home on Route 3 Friday.
The Rev. Edward Bily of St. James, officiated the last rites with burial in the City cemetery under the direction of Buffington Funeral Home. Rosary services was recited at Buffington Chapel Saturday at 8 p.m.
Mr. Barta was born in Gonzales county on September 30, 1910, the son of Frank and Aoizie Malatek Barta, natives of Czechoslovak. He was a member of St. James Catholic Church, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 4817, Hermann Dons Lodge and served with the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He was a farmer of the Route 3 area.
Survivors are three brothers, Adolph, Frank and Alfon Barta, all of Gonzales; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Baumann of New Braunfels, and Mrs. Bessie Benes of Gonzales.
Serving as pallbearer were his nephews.
