Alfon “Elec” Barta went to be with his Lord on Thursday, July 23, 2009 at the age of 89. He was born on April 11, 1920 in Gonzales County to Frank Barta and Aloizie Malatek Barta. Elec was baptized and raised in the Catholic Church. He married Stella Baros on November 21, 1939 and she preceded him in death on October 8, 2007. He farmed, raising corn and some cotton along with raising cattle and chickens. He did some carpentry work with Gilbert Heinemeyer and then worked with Joe Machacek and Rudy Hrncirik. He loved his land, enjoyed working with his hands, but most of all he loved his family, his children and grandchildren were his world. Funeral services were held at Seydler-Hill Funeral Home on Saturday, July 25, 2009 at 10 a.m. with Rev. Andy Smith officiating. Marvin Barta, Scott Barta, Tim Barta, Lorne Dale Barta, George Reese, Frank Baumann, Rodney Barta and Max Barta served as pallbearers. Burial was in the Gonzales City Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Gonzales. Services were under the care and direction of Seydler-Hill Funeral Home, 906 St. Paul, 830-672-3232.
