Funeral of Henry Waddell

The funeral services of Henry Waddell took place Friday from the old homestead north of this city and was attended by a large circle of friends and relatives who gathered to pay their last respects to those who had been a resident of this county nearly all his life.

At the home a short scripture was read and prayer was offered by Eld. E.F. Peterson in charge after which the remains were taken to the Seventh Day Adventist church of this city. The funeral sermon was delivered by the same minister who officiated at the last sad rites of Mrs. Waddell ten years ago. The speaker tried to impress upon those present the frailty of human life and the certainty of death, and above all, that we be prepared at all times to meet the Reaper, Death, which might come to us at any moment.

The sorrowing relatives were comforted with the thought that although death was abroad in the land, Christ was able to break the fetters of the tomb and those who rest in Him will be raised to immortal glory.

Mr Waddell is survived by one brother, James, of Ableman and two sisters, Mrs Mary Trumble of North Freedom and Mrs Annie Cline of this city who were all present. His entire family was also present at the funeral except one daughter, Mrs Ida Thorne of Oregon who was not able to reach here.

He was laid to rest in the Baraboo Cemetery by the side of his wife, there to rest until the morn of the resurrection when all will stand before the great God to receive their reward.
