Gertrude was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer "Jack" Hemmer; parents, Henry A. and Gertrude, nee Kneiper, Heidenfelder; two great-grandchildren; siblings, Henry, Thomas, Cletus, Mary and Helen Heidenfelder; sisters-in-law, Margaret, Fran, Kathy, Ellen and Ruby Heidenfelder; and brothers-in-law, Robert Thompson and Robert Wagner.

Surviving are her children, Juliana (Neil) Berkel of Carterville, Ill., Jeana (John) Koch of Little Rock, Ark., Elmer "Jack" (Donna) Hemmer of Baldwin, Ill., Jill (David) Carr of New Athens, Ill., Janice (Thomas) Schmidt of Belleville, Ill., and Joline Beck of Belleville, Ill.; 15 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; siblings, Aloyious Heidenfelder, Amelia Wagner, Alphonse Heidenfeder of Belleville, Ill., and Betty Thompson of Omaha, Neb.; and numerous nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
