Rev. Asa Smith Colton was the son of Jonathan Strong Colton and Elizabeth Donaldson and the husband of Margaret Schenk. He studied under Rev. Asa Donaldson in Guilford, NY. Then he graduated from Hamilton College in New York. He was a Protestant Episcopal minister and was a rector at several churches in Pennsylvania and Maryland. He was also a professor at Rutgers University.
