In 1940 farm manager Joe Alberda, 24 years aged, lived with his parents, William M Alberda (55 y, county commissioner of Gallatin County) and Clara (55 y too) and his siblings Henry (21 y, farm manager too), William C (17 y) and Nellie (14 y), still like in 1930 and 1935 in the Dutch settlement Holland, later on called Amsterdam-Churchill, in Gallatin County at an own farm.

Joe married on 11 March 1942 in Bozeman, the seat of Gallatin County, at the age of 26 years to the one year older Dorothy Pearl Moss, daughter of John Moss and Rena Dekoning.

In about 1944 their daughter Irene Cary Alberda was born.

In March 1979 Joe and Dorothy owned app. 3 acres of estate in Bozeman, the seat of Gallatin County.

In March 1981 Joe died at the age of 65 years. His widow Dorothy died in 2003 at the age of 88 years.
