Ida was born in Hays, Kansas on April 17, 1923, one of ten children born to Clarence and Martha (Jacky) Babcock. Ida spent most of her childhood in North Loup, Nebraska and graduated from North Loup High School in 1940. She married Lowell Wayne Babcock on March 3, 1945, in Chicago, Illinois while Wayne was serving in the Navy. They lived in California, Arkansas, Iowa, Louisiana, Missouri and Nebraska. Ida was a help-mate, mother, and diligent worker in the churches they served as well as working in several secretarial positions. While in Dodge Center, Ida was secretary at the Farm Bureau Insurance office for several years. After Wayne's retirement Ida and Wayne lived in Daytona Beach, Florida before returning "home" to Dodge Center. Ida worked many hours as a volunteer in the senior dining room at Heritage Estates in Dodge Center, where she lived until August, and did volunteer work for her church and local schools.

Preceding Ida in death, were a daughter, Martha (Richard) Biehle, a great-grandson, Christopher Lozano, her husband Wayne, brothers Merwin, Chester, and Carroll Babcock, and sister Lillian Barber.
