She grew up in the North Loup, Nebraska area and graduated from North Loup (Nebraska) High School in 1935. On December 26, 1936, Marguerite was united in marriage to Gilbert "Jim" Scott at Smith Center, Kan. The couple lived in and around North Loup, Nebraska for 57 years.
Marguerite's family was very important to her. She had a number of "hobbies", cooking and baking. She especially enjoyed baking angel food cake from scratch. She baked over 50 cakes in one year. She loved to quilt, sew and mend. She kept lots of folks in the area "in stitches". She also enjoyed gardening, flowers and canning.
After her husband, Jim passed away in 1993, she moved to NoLo Villa where she enjoyed church, Bible study, bingo and the company of her friends. Due to her declining health she moved to Grandview in Ord, Nebraska where she lived for a short time. She spent 11 months at the Community Memorial Living Center in Burwell, Nebraska and in June of 2007, she became a resident at the Valley View Living Center in Ord, Nebraska.
Marguerite was baptized and joined the Seventh Day Baptist Church in 1927. She belonged to Dr. Grace Missionary Society and the Fort Nightly Club.
Survivors are: daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and Jim Sharp of Burwell, Nebraska and Janice and Arden Davis of Scotia, Nebraska; brothers and sister-in-law, Gilbert Babcock of Ord, Nebraska and Donald and Carolyn Babcock of Hickman, Nebraska; sister, Bonnie Severance of North Loup, Nebraska; sisters-in-law, Ruth Babcock of Lincoln, Nebraska; Deloris Babcock of Loup City, Nebraska and Dorathy Babcock of Kenesaw, Nebraska and a host of friends and relatives..
Marguerite was welcomed into The Heavenly Home by: her parents Clarence and Martha Babcock; brothers, Chester, Merwin, Carroll and Iradell Babcock; and sisters, Lillian Barber and Ida Babcock.
