"G. Eileen Davis Cartwright, 85, a resident of South Whitley, died at 6:08 p.m. Wednesday Dec 11 2002 in St. Joe Medical Center, Fort Wayne. She was born Jan 17 1917 in Mellott. She was raised by Otis Ballah and her mother, Elva (Cooper) Ballah. She married Kelso M. Cartwright July 31 1945. He preceded her in death in 1989.

Her formative years were spent in Mellott and she completed her education in Mellott High School. She and her husband made their home in Veedersburg. She moved to South Whitley in 1990.

She was employed at Dupont in Newport for more than 10 years, Hooser Crown in Crawfordsville, Deputy Assessor in Van Buren Township, Fountain County for several years and owned and operated a restaurant in Veedersburg with her husband.

She was a member of the Veedersburg United Methodist church, American Red Cross, Order of the Eastern Star in Veedersburg, Daughter of the American Revolution and American Legion Post #288 Auxiliary in Veedersburg.

Survivors include a step daughter, Janet (Virgil) Winkler, Tilton, Ill.; a son-in-law, Arthur Busenbark, South Whitley; four grandchildren, Larry D. (Carolee) Busenbark, Warsaw, Steven A. (Mary) Busenbark, Coatesville, Kimberly G. (Kent) Reese, South Whitley and Kelli R. Busenbark, Warsaw; 13 great grandchildren, seven great great grandchildren; a brother, Robert Ballah, Veedersburg; and two sisters, Delores Mitchell, Veedersburg and Gwen Freas, Crawfordsville.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Beverly Rose Busenbark; a brother, Charles Ballah and a sister Marge Hollis.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Sunday in Veedersburg United Methodist Church with Pastor Linda Lawler, church pastor, officiating. Burial was in Bonebrake Cemetery, Veedersburg.
