Evelyn Jean Bitner, 76, of Centerville, passed away Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at Mercy Medical Center in Centerville.

Jean was born March 6, 1935 in Dean, the daughter of Aaron Jeff Forsythe and Ruby Ellnora Tracy Forsythe. She worked for both Centerville Nursing and Rehab and the Golden Age Care Center. She was a collector and liked clipping pictures. She liked to read her Bible. She was a member of the Solid Rock Church of God, Centerville.

She is survived by her husband Marvin of Centerville; three children, Nancy(Duane)Akers of Albia, Mary(Steven Sr.)Terrell of Eldon and Kathy(Mike Yardley)Dommer of Ottumwa; five grandchildren, Jennifer(Roger)Davis of Albia, Adam Akers of Albia, Steven Jr. Terrell of Wilkinson, Wash., Melissa Crawford and Michael(Heather)Dommer of Cedar Rapids, Ia.; four great-grandchildren, Colin Crawford, Quentin Crawford, Carson Dommer and Grace Dommer; and two sisters Betty Albright of Wellman, Ia. and Kathleen Horn of Centerville.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Naomi Sleeth; and brothers, Lester Bernard Forsythe and Aaron Jeff Forsythe.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm Saturday, May 21 at the Solid Rock Church of God in Centerville with Pastor Kris Wattelett officiating. Friends may call all day today with the family present from 6-8 pm at the Lange Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Sunset View Cemetery in Moulton. A memorial has been established to the Solid Rock Church of God in Centerville or Mercy Hospice.
