Alton Elbren Theobald, age 82, died Friday, February 13, 1987 in Delta.

He was born September 12, 1904 at Oak City, Utah to Charles Arthur and Lydia Ruth Talbot Theobald. He married Irene Jorgensen October 2, 1923 at Salt Lake City. She died August 7, 1982.

His early life was spent in the Abraham area. He was a truck driver, cowboy and farmer and to many was known as “the vet” due to his love of animals.

He is survived by sons and daughters, Mrs. Don (Wyla) Carlisle, Woods Cross, Utah; Leo, Mrs. Allen (Mary) Irby, Mrs. Richard (LaRae) Peterson, Charles and DeLoy, all Las Vegas, NV; Mrs. Earl (Thilda) Remington, Lena Busey and Jarrell, all Salt Lake City; DeVon, Carson City, NV; Mrs. Fenton (Ione) DeMille, Ogden; Ed and Tom, both Hinckley; Mrs. Max (Sue) Scheiss, Bennion; 53 grandchildren, 95 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren; sisters, Mrs. Waldo (Zelma) Watts and Mrs. Eugene (Norma) Stevenson, both Salt Lake City; Mrs. Everette (Melva) Harriell and Mrs. Glen (Crystal) Whitehead, both Idaho Falls, ID.

Funeral services were held Monday, February 16, 1987 at 11 a.m. in the Hinckley 1st Ward Chapel with Bishop Water Manis conducting. Family prayer was by Earl Remington with Marlene Bliss playing prelude and postlude music.

Invocation was by Walter Ekins and Dale Bliss sang “Silver Haired Daddy of Mine,” and “When the Work’s All Done This Fall,” accompanied by Marlene Bliss. History was by Cluff Talbot and a medley of “Home on the Range,” “Bury Me Not on the Lone Prairie,” “Going Home,” etc. was played by Ruth Talbot.

Bishop Walter Manis spoke and Cluff Talbot sang, “Empty Saddle,” accompanied by Ruth Talbot. Benediction was by Rodney Wright.

Fenton DeMille dedicated the grave. Interment was in the Hinckley Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Eddie Theobald, Craig Peterson, DonLynn Carlisle, Jimmy DeMille, Kenny Harney and Scott Theobald.

Honorary pallbearers were wade Theobald, Randy DeMille, Wayne Theobald, Kevin DeMille, Chad Theobald and John Medrano..
