Graveside services were held Monday morning at Archer City Cemetery with Roger Deerinwater, pastor of First Baptist Church of Archer City, officiating.

James Loyd Ashbrook was born to Elmer James Ashbrook and Lillie Mae Moudy Ashbrook in Archer City. He attended the Archer City Schools. He served in the US Army with the First Cavalry Divison Air Mobile Unit during the Vietnam War. He was awarded the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, Air Medal, the Army Commendation Medal and the Combat Infantry Badge.
He and Judy Kay Cooper were married July 27, 1973 in Olney where he lived until moving to Bridgeport in August 1991. He was a pumper for Bridwell Oil Company and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Archer City.
James was preceded in death by his father, Elmer James Ashbrook(May 27, 1970); two brothers Jackie Dale Ashbrook(November 23, 1984) and Bobby Dwayne Ashbrook(Feb 1990); one sister Aileen Russell(July 3, 1987).
Survivors include his wife, Judy Kay of Bridgeport; a son Michael James Ashbrook and a daughter Marlana Kay Asbrook both of Bridgeport; his mother Lillie Mae Moudy Ashbrook of Bridgeport; and a sister, Pauline Gipson of Enid, Oklahoma.
