Clark E. Shindel, 53, died on Thursday at his home, 430 West Main Street, Annville, following a lingering illness of complication. For the past five years he was unable to follow any consistent employment. He was employed for some years as a steward at the Washington Band Hall, Annville, and was confined to his home since last July. Mr. Shindel was a member of the United Christian Church. He is survived by his wife, the former Sallie Deininger, and the following sons and daughters: Rodney and George Shindel, Lebanon; Earnest Shindel, a pilot with the U. S. Army Air Force in training at Waco, Texas; Mark W. Shindel, serving with a U. S. Army Field Artillery Battery in Italy; Clark Shindel, Jr., and Robert H. Shindel, at home, Mrs. Wilbur Bucher, Palmyra; Mrs. James Snyder, Hummelstown; Mrs. Oscar Cutman, Annville; and Mrs. Oscar Waltermeyer, Annville. Sixteen grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Pearl Heffner, of Tacoma Park, Maryland, also survive. He was born and reared in Annville and spent his entire life there. Services were held in the United Christian Church at Annville this afternoon for Clark E. Shindel, late of 430 West Main Street, Annville. The pastor, Rev. Elmer Witmer, officiated, assisted by Rev. E. R. Heisler, of the Annville Evangelical Church. Interment took, place at the Grand View Memorial Cemetery near Annville. Bearers were three sons Earnest, Rodney and George Shindel; and three sons-in-law Oscar Waltermeyer, Oscar Cutman and Wilbur Bucher. Kreamer Brothers had charge of arrangements.
