William Hill is the third son of Joab Hill and Elizabeth Lane. He served as a scout for the wagon train lead by brother Isaac Hill which went west over the Oregon trail. Most of the family stayed in the West, but William returned to Clark County, Missouri where he married (1) Jean L./Jane S. Lewis on 28 Oct 1849. She died 6 November 1855 and is buried in the Lewis Family Graveyard.

William married (2) her sister Julia Ann Lewis Perkins on 17 January 1858 in Clark Co., Missouri.

William died next, 23 October 1881. Julia A. Hill died 19 Mar 1915 and is buried in Kahoka Cemetery according to her death certificate.
