Funeral services for Mrs. Winnie Foster were held Monday afternoon, November 21 at the Methodist church in Plainfield. Rev. Kinderdine of Greene assisted by Rev. E. R. Hodgkin of Plainfield conducted the service. Miss Hazel Boyd played the piano. Mrs. Howard Roach and Mrs. Howard Stevens sang several selections. The casket bearers were Messr. A. D. Moore, Benton Satterlee, Howard Roach, Fred Stickman, L. P. Roach, and Fred Gallagher.
Winnie Churchill was born near Plainfield October 25, 1869 and died at the home of her daughter near Ainsworth, Iowa, November 18 at the age of 69 years and 23 days.
Her early education was obtained in the Plainfield schools; after which she taught for several years, including the primary department of the Plainfield schools.
At the age of 23 she married Sherman W. Foster and settled on a farm near Horton. After three years they moved with their two daughters, Charlotte and Daisy to Plainfield. Where another daughter, Marjorie, was born.
In October 1926, the family circle was broken by the departure of the father after an illness of about a year. Fourteen months later the second daughter, Mrs. Rollen Smith, succumbed after an operation, leaving a small daughter, Beverly.
Since 1930 Mrs. Foster had made her home at Ainsworth with her daughter, Marjorie, where in 1933 Charlotte was taken ill and soon passed away.
During her lifetime Mrs. Foster had manifested a broad interest in the cultural values, being well versed particularly on world affairs and their significance. This made her blindness of the past two years a harder affliction, which coupled with heart weakness caused much physical suffering.
She leaves behind an only daughter, Mrs. Everett Roberts of Ainsworth, a granddaughter, Beverly Smith of Waterloo and a brother, Frank Churchill of Plainfield.
