HAYS - Louis W. "Louie" Ross, 79, died Saturday, Nov. 1, 2003, at St. John's of Hays Nursing Home.

He was born Oct. 23, 1924, in Hays to Frank and Andrea (Meier) Ross. He married Justina "Tina" Meier on Oct. 20, 1948, in Hays. He was an electrical contractor, owning Ross Electric for many years, and was a pumper for Baruch-Foster Oil prior to retirement. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and was an avid hunter, fisherman and gardener.

Survivors include his wife, of the home; two sons, Tom and his wife, Cindy, and Roger and his wife, Sue, both of Edmund, Okla.; three daughters, Carol Ledbetter and her husband, Clint, Edmund, Joan Scott and her husband, Gary, Pampa, Texas, and Lois Cook and her husband, Randy, Amarillo, Texas; three brothers, Francis, Wichita, Lawrence "Pete," Great Bend, and Alan, Hays; two sisters, Mary Ellen Fromm, Grand Junction, Colo., and Irene Hauser, Louisville, Colo.; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Norbert and Richard "Dick," and a granddaughter, Camilla Ross.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church; burial in St. Joseph Cemetery.

There will be a parish vigil at 7 p.m. today at Hays Memorial Chapel funeral Home, 20th and Pine, followed by a family rosary. Visitation will be until 8 p.m. today and from 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the church or Pheasants Forever in care of the funeral home.
