Nira Thompson Hodge

Nira Thompson Hodge, 68, died at 5:30 a.m., Wednesday, June 23, 1999, at the Olathe Medical Center, Olathe, Kansas.

Mrs. Hodge was born Aug. 18, 1930, at Carthage. She was a member of the Vista Baptist Church, Olathe, Kan. and a homemaker. She married Richard Harold Hodge, Sr. on March 6, 1948. He survives.

Other survivors include two daughters, Kathy Filkins, Gardner, Kan. and Carol Richey, Lane, Kan.; two sons, Jerome Hodge, Milwaukee, Wis., and Jeffery Hodge, Harker Heights, Texas; one brother, Donald Thompson, Kansas City; five sisters, Nola Spooner, Cawker City, Kan., Clara Moreland Rush, Fredric, MD., Nellie Milton, Seal Beach, Calif., Edna McBee, Vinita, Okla., and Ruth Hudson, King George, Va.; 15 grandchildren; and 12 great-grand-children.

She was preceded in death by one son, Richard Harold Hodge, Jr.; four brothers; and two sisters.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Saturday at the W.L. Frye & Son Funeral Home in Olathe, Kan.
Burial will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Greenlawn Cemetery, Jasper.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

The family suggests contributions to be made to the American Diabetes Association in care of the funeral home.
