Michael Cain Hammond, 78, 212 Fletcher Street,died at his home Thursday at 10:49 p.m. He was a former resident of
Scott County, a retired farmer, and a veteran of World War I. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Lulu Hammond, five
daughters, Mrs. Nettie Estep, Hiltons, Mrs. Dewey Lane, Church Hill, Mrs. Jeorlene Richard, Persia. Tenn., Mrs.Inez Bailey, Kingsport, Dorothy Foster, Greeneville, four sons, Ulys Hammond, LaPlatte, Md., Calvin Hammond, Joe Hammond, both of Kingsport, Victor Hammond, Nickelsville, one sister, Mrs. Mamie Powers, Kingsport, three step-sisters, Mrs. Pearl Gilliam, Kingsport, Mrs. Lovely Lane, Mrs. Lola Lane, both of Gate City, three brothers, C. M. Hammond Kingsport, Omer Hammond, Kelly Hammond, Gate City, three half-brothers, Kemp Hammond, Lorne Hammond, Watseka, 111., Coy Hammond, Md., one step-brother, Rev. Willie Jennings, Weber City, 50 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Michael Cain Hammond, who died at his
home, 212 Fletcher Street, at 10:49 p.m. Thursday at the age of 78, will be held at 2 p.m. today in the Gate City Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Garland Hammond and
Rev. Herman Quillen will conduct the service. Burial will
be in Holslon View Cemetery.
