Eugene M. "Gene" Koeppe passed away September 22, 2001, in Oklahoma City at the age of 84 of an apparent heart attack. Gene was born in Martinsburg, Nebraska, April 10, 1917. Gene was the youngest of 8 children. He was stationed at Will Rogers Field with the 3rd Air Force 11th Combat Mapping Squad during World War II, when he met his future wife, Audrey White. Love quickly blossomed and within months they were married.
Survivors include his wife, Audrey; 3 children: son, Stan Koeppe and wife Teresa; 2 daughters, Loree Thompson and husband Garold and Gloria Wells and husband Lowell, all of Oklahoma City. He had 4 grandchildren: Jennifer Hardin, Greg Mason, Rachel and Jared Koeppe, of Oklahoma City; and 2 great-grandchildren: Nick and Megan Hardin. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Gene was a retired builder and custom harvester and a member of Messiah Lutheran Church. He loved golf and sports in general. He was a very strong individual until Parkinson's took its toll. He will be greatly missed by his friends and family. Funeral services will be at Messiah Lutheran Church, Monday, September 24, 2001 at 10:00 A.M. with interment to follow at Rose Hill Burial Park.
