Orvie Solmonson, 85, of Orange City and formerly of Estherville, died Thursday
morning, April 21, 1983, at the Heritage Home in Orange City. Private committal
services are scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Saturday at the Estherville Lutheran
Cemetery, with a memorial service for family and friends set for 9:30a.m.
Saturday at the Estherville Lutheran Church. Henry and Olson Funeral Home is in
charge of arrangements.
He was born Sept 20, 1896, on a farm near Estherville. His parents were Solomon
and Emma (Johnson) Solmonson. He was educated in the rural schools and was
married to Palma Orverson Sept. 3, 1925. at Estherville. He farmed and lived in
Estherville all his life until 1975 when he moved to the Orange City nursing
home. He was a member of the Estherville Lutheran Church.
He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Hans (Norma) Tvedte of Orange City and
Mrs. Ernest (Shirley) Wentzel of Collinsville, Ill.; and one son and
daughter-in-law, the Rev. Alan and Judy Solmonson of Newburg, Ore.; 10
grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs Lavina Taylor, of the good Samaritan Center
in Estherville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and three brothers.
