He married Martha Steen in 1936 and after her death he married Lillian Borrison Van Gordon in 1976.
He like to joke about his occupation "A lack of all trades, a master of none." He was owner and operator of Mel's Bar and Bowling Alley in Elva. Mel did whitewashing. He sold insurance with his brother.John, for many years he sold seed corn and grilled chicken with his brother Spencer. He has been retired for 30 years. His favorite hobbies were fishing hunting , gardening and cooking.
He was a member of Elva Lutheran Church, the Mondoni Mason Lodge, the Zor Shrine in Eau Claire, the Elva Commerial Club, the Elva Rod and Gun Club and was a volunteer fireman in Elva.
He is survived by a daughter, Jeanette (Clayton) Nibaur of Eau Claire, many brother-in-laws; one sister-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, many loving and caring friends.
Preceded in death by His wife Martha; his wife Lillian; a daughter, Judith, his parents; four brothers, Gary, John, Lawrence and Spencer and one sister, Irene Skogtad.
Services will be on Friday, Sept 1, 2000 at Elva Lutheran Church Burial in Eleva Cemetery.
