A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 7, at Baier Family Funeral Services, 306 E. Lincoln St., Buckley, with Vicar Patrick Flynn officiating.
Visitation will be one hour before the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
Verna was born April 13, 1918, at Cissna Park, the daughter of Fred and Amanda Ristow Henneinke. She married Russell J. Ward Sept. 8, 1936, at Kankakee. He preceded her in death Nov. 13, 1987.
She is survived by two daughters, Virginia Tobeck of Loda and Sharon (Ron) Huskins of Highland Village, Texas; six grandchildren, Debra Jordan, Sandra Jordan, Linda Jordan, Anthony (Aisha) Jordan, John (friend, Gina) Tobeck and Jeffrey Tobeck; several great-grandchildren, Jamie and Bryan Allen, Parker Jordan, Ashlie and Andrew Sealy, Mathew Tobeck and Tia (Charlie Prather) Tobeck; a brother, Lester Henneinke of Paxton; a sister-in-law, Ruth Henneinke of Redding, Calif.; special friends of the family, Mr. and Mrs. Don Ragsdale and family of Paxton and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a grandson, James Tobeck; five sisters, four brothers and a son-in-law, Ron Tobeck.
She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Buckley, where she had been confirmed on Jan. 19, 1954. She enjoyed embroidery, flowers and gardening.
The family has requested that memorials be given to St. John's Lutheran Church or school, the Heart Fund, the Diabetes Association or a charity of the donor's choice.
