Lester V. Henneinke, 94, of Cissna Park joined his loving family in heaven on Monday, September 15, 2014. He passed away at Heartland Health Care Center in Paxton.
Lester was born at home in Cissna Park on January 31, 1920 to Fred and Amanda Ristow Henneinke. He was one of eleven children. He married Edith F. Barth on April 13, 1952 at Woodworth and they were married for forty-two years before she preceded him in death on November 15, 1994. Also preceded him in death are his parents; four brothers, a baby boy who died at birth, Elmer, Roy and Ray; and six sisters, Ethel, Iva, Marie, Esther, Verna and Amanda “Tootie”.
He is survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.
Lester was a lifelong farmer of his parents’ farm located northeast of Cissna Park before retiring in 1992. He was an avid fisherman, whether it was a little creek, a big lake or a huge ocean. He loved playing cards, especially Euchre and Poker. He would scan the local newspapers for sales; farm, garage or street sales. It didn’t make any difference. If there was a sale, he was there. He was always on the lookout for a new project to work on. He was a jack of all trades and could fix anything from “A-Z”, antique clocks to Zippo lighters. He had a chicken house that was “converted” into a toolshed. If you needed anything, you could just ask him and he’d say “I’ve got one in the chicken house”.
He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church at Woodworth, where funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 19, 2014. Rev. Benjamin Meyer will officiate. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 18, 2014 at Knapp Funeral Home in Cissna Park and for 1 hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Burial will be at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery at Woodworth.
Memorials may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church at Woodworth or to the donor’s choice.
