MOTHER FAILS TO RETURN FROM VALLEY OF THE SHADOWS
Mrs. Chas. Weiker, Well Known Woman, Dies at Birth of 13th Child
The birth of her thirteenth child claimed the life of Mrs. Charles Welker, 38. at Memorial hospital at midnight last night. An eight-pound son was born to her at the hospital at 10:30 Thursday morning, but the child was dead at birth and the mother was only a few short hours in following. After her death the body was taken to the home 705 Ohio avenue.
The funeral will be held at the A. M. E. church, on Second street at 2:30, Monday afternoon, the Rev. H. E. Beasley to officiate. Burial will be made in Oakwood cemetery. Mrs. Welker was born in Cleveland on February 11, 1887, and her maiden name was Miss Edith Jones. She was married to Charles Weiker in Cleveland on March 20, 1903, and 18 years ago the couple came to Fremont to live, this being the former home of the husband.
Of the thirteen children born to them, ten are living: Theodore, Evelyn, Beulah, Chester, Harriet, Samuel, Mamie, Edith, Sarah and Margaret, all at home. The oldest is 21 and the youngest, three years of age. Mamie and Edith are twins. Surviving with the motherless children is the husband and father. There are also the parents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Patterson, of Cleveland: two sisters, Mrs. Odessa Butler, of Cleveland, and Mrs. Beulah Johnson, of Painesville, O.
The death of the mother is very sad with the large family of children to whom she was very devoted, and she had a wide circle of friends and neighbors, who will extend sympathy to the bereaved family.
