KINGSPORT - Robert Earl "Bob" Moorehouse Sr., 85, passed away Wednesday (Nov. 6, 2002) in his home at Preston Place.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William S. Moorehouse and Carrie Hinderliter Moorehouse; and his brothers, George Moorehouse and Roy Moorehouse.
Bob was born June 30, 1917 on a homestead in Las Animas, Colo., with his mother performing the delivery herself. While still young, Bob and his family moved to Kingsport in 1924.

He went to work for Tennessee Eastman in 1939 as a metal fabricator, taking a leave of absence to join the U.S. Navy on Dec. 16, 1941, nine days after the attack on Pearl Harbor. As part of his term of service, Bob saw submarine duty in 1943 based out of Australia, also traveling to the Philippines. After military service, Bob returned to work at Eastman, marrying Grace Poulston in Rock Hill, S.C., on June 1, 1947. Bob worked at Eastman for over 40 years as a metal fabricator until he retired in 1980. Bob was a member of the St. Matthew United Methodist Church. He also was a member of the American Legion, as well as the Appalachian Express Barbershop Chorus. His hobbies included fishing, gardening and reading.
