Frances Elliott Gilmer, 77, Nickelsville, VA passed away, Saturday, August 2, 2008 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.

Mrs. Gilmer was born in Scott County, VA on September 17, 1930, a daughter of the late Emory Patton Elliott and Virgie Mae Bond Elliott. She served as a Teacher's Aide in the Scott County School System for over thirty years and was a member of the Philadelphia Church of God in Knoxville, TN.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Charles Robert, E.P., Howard, Jimmy and Glenn Elliott.

She is survived by her husband, Charles Gilmer, Nickelsville, VA, daughters, Charlotte Gilmer Cox and husband, Duffie, Gate City, VA, and Debra Gilmer Greene and husband, Wiley, Blountville, TN, her son, William David Gilmer and wife, Connie, Nickelsville, VA, grandchildren, Jessica Gilmer Christian, Charles David Gilmer, William Travis Gilmer, Samuel Cox, Amanda Cox, Nathaniel Greene, Caleb Greene, Morgan Greene and Natalie Greene, great grandchildren, Dustin, Hannah and Kyle, sisters, Lois Hardy, Bristol, VA, Marion Bundy, Lebanon, VA, and Katherine Salyer and husband, Wayne, Nickelsville, VA, brother, Bruce Elliott and wife, Brenda, Rogersville, VA, along with several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m., Tuesday, August 5, 2008 at the Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residence. Funeral services will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with David Dobson officiating. A eulogy will be given by Wiley Greene. Brent and Susan Fiedler will provide the music.

Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 6, 2008 at the Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA.
