Elizabeth Katherine Salyers, age 79 of Nickelsville, VA passed away on Thursday morning, October 8, 2015 at Greystone Healthcare and Rehabilitation Facility in Blountville, TN after courageously fighting a lengthy illness for years.

She was born in Nickelsville, VA on February 1, 1936; she was the daughter of the late Emory Patton Elliott and Virgie Mae Bond Elliott. Other than her parents, Katherine was also preceded in death by her husband, Wayne F. Salyers and a daughter, Lydia Austin; sisters, Lois Hardy and Frances Gilmer; brothers Charles Robert, E.P., Jimmy, Bruce, Howard, and Glen Elliott.

She attended Midway United Methodist Church. Katherine managed the Dairy Kreme (“Custard Stand”) in Nickelsville for many years.

Mrs. Salyers is survived by her son, Anthony Austin, Kingsport, TN; sister, Marion Bundy, Lebanon, VA.

Graveside services will be held on Sunday, October 11, 2015 at 2:00 PM in the Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA.
