Born June 22, 1942, in Gary, he was the son of Wilma Louks Parnell and the late Paul Parnell.
A sergeant in the Air Force, he was a member of the American Legion and VFW.
He enjoyed four-wheeling and snowmobiling.
Surviving with his mother Wilma of Rossville are a son, Ricky Lynn Parnell of Elkhart; two daughters, Jeanne Parnell McCauley of Frankfort and Mindy Parnell Gumpert (husband: Bart) of Chesapeake, Va.; two brothers, Dennis Parnell (companion: Jan Shaw) of Lafayette and Mike Parnell (wife: Dayna) of Yorba Linda, Calif.; and two sisters, Glenda McEwen of Lafayette and Paula Wagner (husband: Rick) of Frankfort.
Also surviving are several grandchildren, nieces, nephews and longtime friends. He was preceded in death by a brother.
