Floyd Ellis Land, 71, passed away Sept. 9, 2000.
Mr. Land was born in Princess Anne County Oct. 19, 1928 to Bertie L. and Cecil P. Land who have predeceased him. He was a retired teacher after 13 years and after 34 years of combined military service retired from the U.S.N.R. as a master chief petty officer. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 164, the Scottish Rite of Norfolk, the Khedive Temple and the Arab Patrol. Mr. Land was also predeceased by a brother, Frank W. Land.
He is survived by three daughters, Myra Land, Frances Henley and Beverly Thompson; three grandchildren; a brother, Elliott Lee Land; a sister, Marian Armel; four aunts, Maude Jackson, Mary Davis, Bernice Mosley and Lorraine Pledger; an uncle, Hilton Lee; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Friday in Marian Manor, 5345 Marian Lane, Virginia Beach, VA 23462. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to In Home Health Hospice Division, 5040 Corporate Woods Drive, Virginia Beach, VA 23462. Altmeyer Funeral Home, Virginia Beach, is handling arrangements.
