Jimmie Franklin Brackett, 77, of 171 Charlie Randall Rd, Lawndale, passed away Friday, April 15, 2011 at Cleveland Pines Nursing Center in Shelby. Jim was born in Cleveland County on December 11, 1933, to the late Alston Roosevelt Brackett and Louella Morrison Brackett. He was retired from Cleveland Mills and Carlton Mills. Jim was a member of Lawndale Missionary Methodist Church and also served in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He also loved wood crafting, gardening and tending his few chickens.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Dickie Brackett and sister, Mary Turner.
Jim is survived by his wife of 58 years, Janice Harrelson Brackett; two sons, Jamie Brackett and wife Wanda and Edwin Brackett and wife Diana all of Polkville; four daughters, Robin Randall and husband Harold of Lawndale, Lisa Porter and husband James of Lawndale, Tammie Buckner and husband Mike of Lawndale, and Myra Hoyle and husband Frank of Shelby; two brothers, Billy Brackett of Mt Holly and Gene Brackett of Shelby; sister, Norma White of Gastonia; 12 grandchildren, Amanda Tallent and husband Dusty, Amy Flynn and husband Ryan, Tiffany McKee and husband Brett, James Porter, Jr and wife Jessica, Sarah Rimert and husband Travis, Elizabeth Buckner; Emily Brackett, Kayla Brackett, John Hoyle, Marla Hoyle, Brad Kanai and wife Hilda, Kaitlynn Kanai and Alston Brackett; three great grandchildren, Alex Flynn, Landon McKee and Morgan Kanai.
