Albert Barry Scobee was the son of James Wesley Scobee and his 2nd wife, Sarah Ann "Anna" Mason. He was born in Pollock, Putnam County, Missouri, the 1st of their 3 children.
Although his middle name was spelled Berry, he went by Barry.
His father died of typhoid fever, when Barry was 5 and Sarah was expecting their 3rd child. His mother never remarried. In 1897, that daughter died and Sarah lost her mind and went to live in the Insane Asylum in Buchanan County, where she died in 1910.
Barry, as he was known, married Katherine Delphina Ford in Kansas City, Jackson Co., MO in 1911. They moved to Texas where he lived until his death.
He wrote several western books about cowboy life. They had no children. There is a mountain named for him.
