He was the son of Stinson Scobee and Hannah M. Haynes and the husband of 1. Lovina Sibole and 2. Sarah Ann (Anna) Mason
Obituary from an unknown newspaper...
Scobee, J.W. of Pollock, in his 47th year, died 12/29/1890. His 1st wife was Lovinia Sibole whom he married in 1868. She bore him 5 children. She died in 1882 and in 1883 he was married to Sarah Ann "Anna" Mason who bore him 2 children.
(Another child was born 2 months after his death, but wasn't mentioned in his obit. Carrie was born Feb. 23, 1891 and died of typhoid fever May 17, 1897, at age 6)

From Barry Scobee, James's youngest son, come these words..."James Wesley Scobee, b. June 8, 1844, Putnam Co., MO., d Dec. 19, 1890 at Pollock, MO., in the early morning, on his sick bed. (I remember that I was awakened in my bed upstairs, not by anyone--why I did wake I do not know; perhaps the feeling in the air. I went trotting downstairs and entered the room." (MY NOTES: This little boy was just 5) "My mother was there, and neighbors; I recall two of them, Mr. and Mrs. Barbee (He means Bibee). I looked at father, and went up and kissed him on the cheek. He had just passed on. I recall nothing further, except that a funeral procession in farm wagons drove to Lemons in the mud, and en route I said two or three times--(we were in the wagon behind the one carrying the coffin)--"Ma, I can see the coffin", finally to be shushed by my mother. James Wesley Scobee married Lovena Sibole Nov. 4, 1869. Their children;
Anna Lois, b Aug 20, 1870, Carl C., b June 28, 1872; Susan M., b April 4, 1874 and d. Oct. 28, 1874; John Wesley b. Sept. 26, 1875; and Cassie, b April 1, 1878. James Wesley's 2nd wife, Sarah Ann Mason, married March 25, 1884; Letha Pearl, b Sept. 12, 1888; and Carrie Estella, Feb. 23, 1891, d. May 17, 1897 at Pollock, MO., where also Pearl and I were born, on the farm a mile and a quarter northwest of Pollock." (Barry was born 2 May, 1885)
