Oran A. McCoy Sr., 85, of West Stone Street, Gibsonburg, died Sunday at Windsor Lane Care Center.

He was born in Elmwood, W. Va., to Clayton and Harriet (Sayre) McCoy. He graduated from Pemberville High School in 1937 and served with the U.S. Army during World War II.

Mr. McCoy worked as a carpenter.

He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Gibsonburg and a lifemember and past commander of Welker-Smith American Legion Post 17 in Gibsonburg.

On March 1, 1941, he married Bonnie Jean Weigman in Greenup, Ky. She died June 27, 2001.

Surviving are son Oran McCoy Jr. of California; daughters Dianna Nash and Shirley Koons, both of Fremont, Harriet McCoy and Alice Sinsel, both of Gibsonburg, and Lois Hymes of Adrian, Mich.; sisters Hazel Cobb and Ethel Wyler both of Bowling Green; and 18 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. He is preceded by sisters Winnie Jividen, Erma Jividen, Virginia McCoy and brothers Cecil, George, Earl, Ernest and Clyde.

Visitation: 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Nopper-Veh Funeral Home, Gibsonburg..

Services: 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Burial: With military rites by the American Legion Post will follow in the veterans section at West Union Cemetery.
