James was said to be born in Scotland. His wife was Mary Fuqua. He and Mary were the parents of 11 children. He is buried at the "Old Indian Burial Graveyard". If anyone knows if this cemetery has another name, please advise. Also, the exact location is desired as well.

The details of his military service haven't been documented at this point as there are numerous James Robersons and James Robertsons who lived in Virginia during the Revolutionary era. The biographical sketch of Joseph Robertson of Poweshiek County, Iowa indicates that "The paternal grandfather was during the Revolutionary War obliged to leave his Virginia home and with his wife and eleven children seek shelter from the enemy in a fort." This shows that he was uprooted from his home and had to seek safety. It also shows that he was probably at least in the 35 to 40 year age range as he already had eleven children at this point. This 1893 biography doesn't actually indicate that he served.

Gary Morrison has done a lot of research on the various Robertson lines. See The Gary Morrison Family Genealogy Home Page on Rootsweb.
