James Leo Beck, 89 of Victoria passed away on Tuesday, April 5, 2011. He was born May 2, 1921 in Victoria to the late John L. and Mary Hickey Beck.

He graduated from Edna High School in 1937 at the age of 16. At the age of 22 in 1942 he enlisted in the Army Air Corp, serving in the China-Burma-India Theater with the 1352nd Search and Rescue Squadron. He was awarded 3 Bronze Stars and the Distinguished Flying Cross. James worked overseas most of his career, spending 17 years in Iran and 5 years at the North Sea.

He is survived by his two daughters, Kathryn and Sandra, brother, Father Richard J. Beck, three grandchildren, Kathryn, James and Raymond. He is also survived by his sons-in-law, Frank and Matthew.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Genevieve Beck and Josephine Wearden and brother, Lawrence Beck.

A Rosary will be recited on Friday, April 8, 2011, 9:00 am at St. Mary's Catholic Church and a Funeral Mass will follow at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at Catholic Cemetery #3. Full military honors provided by the Victoria Veterans Council.
