Byron Lynn, age 84, died Monday, August 31, 2009, at home under the care of hospice.

Byron was born in Reidsville, GA, and was a lifelong resident of Tattnall County. He graduated from Reidsville High School in 1943 and attended the University of Georgia. Byron completed 30 years in the postal service. After retirement, he returned to the family farm where he raised various crops and livestock.

He served in World War II as a tail gunner assigned to the 97th Bomb Wing of the 15th Air Force. He flew 50 missions over Europe on B-17 Bombers.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Essie Lynn; wife, Carolyn Waters Lynn; sister, Jessie Kendrick; and brother, Frank Lynn.

Surviving are his son, Dr. Steve (Miriam) Lynn of Collins; granddaughter, Beth Lynn of Athens, GA; one sister-in-law Jackie (Wally) Lea of Jacksonville, FL; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 5 from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. at the Bradley B. Anderson Funeral Home Chapel in Reidsville with the funeral services to follow with the Reverends David Hudson and Marc Foster officiating. Burial will be at the Little Flock Church Cemetery, Collins with military honors.

Pallbearers will be Greg Lynn, Ricky Lynn, Paul Davidson, Kim Lynn, Jerome Lynn, Barry Franklin.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be sent to your favorite charity or the Reidsville United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 218, Reidsville, GA 30453.
