John Herbert Ashby, age 77, died Friday, March 8, 1991 at the Dixie Regional Medical Center.

He was born April 20, 1913 in Salt Lake City, Utah to John William and Celestia Lovina Van Leuven Ashby. Mr. Ashby was reared and educated in Salt Lake City, Utah. He worked for Haight Motors in Burley, Idaho for many years. He moved to the Dixie area six years ago. He was a High Priest in the LDS Church, and enjoyed temple work. He also enjoyed bowling, fishing and hunting.

Surviving family members include two sons and three daughters, Mrs. J.R. (Cherry Mae) Anderson; and Mrs. Donna Louise Boehler, both of Burley, Idaho; Mrs. Matthew (Tina Lee) Surlin of Santa Monical, Calif.; John Herbert, Jr. of Heyburn, Idaho; and Robbie C. of Riverside, Calif.; 19 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren; twin brother, Don Ashby of Heyburn, Idaho. Preceded in death by parents, and eight brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 12th, at 1:00 p.m. at MacKay Deseret Mortuary, 36 East 700 South, where friends may call one hour prior to services. Interment will be in the Lake Hills Memorial Park in Salt Lake City, under the direction of MacKay Deseret Mortuary.
