He was a native of Bulloch County, a veteran of the Korean War and a member of Lawrence Baptist Church. He was a farmer and timber dealer.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Maxie Floyd McCoy of Pembroke; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Lee McCoy of Pembroke; two sons, James Leon Jr. and Paul Lindsey McCoy, both of Pembroke; a daughter, Miss Maxie Ann McCoy of Pembroke; and a sister, Mrs. Quinton Anderson of Nevils.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. today at Lawrence Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Morrison Funeral Home of Pembroke is in charge.
