from the "Lafayette Daily Courier," Thursday, January 14, 1892: "MRS. MARY JENNERS. Mrs. Mary Jenners, wife of James Jenners, residing on the Kurtz farm on the West Side, died at 8:30 o'clock last night of consumption, aged 33 years. The husband survives and feels severely the loss of a devoted companion. She was a good and kind neighbor and all regret her demise. She was a sister of Elias Layton. The funeral will be held at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon from the residence of Clark Black in West Lafayette, Rev. J. G. Campbell conducting the services. Burial at Greenbush cemetery."


Mary E. Layton married James D. Jenners 1 October 1885 in Lafayette. Information provided by James' descendants gives the name of James' first wife as "Mollie Spring" but this marriage has not been confirmed.
