Mrs. Arthur Eccles, soloist sang, “In The Garden” and “Just a Closer Walk With Thee.” She was accompanied at the organ by Mrs. Don Jones.
Casket bearers were Merle Paxson, John Skillman, Bill Leib, Ralph McCrea, Lonnie Welch, and Michael Mickus.
Interment was in Graceland Cemetery, Burlington.
Goldie Ellen Stewart was born June10, 1895 at Rosemont, Kansas to Christopher and Mary Elizabeth Johnson.
On Oct. 8, 1913, she was married to George Edgar Stewart at Burlington, and they were the parents of three daughters. Her husband preceded her in death on June 7, 1928.
She was employed as a practical nurse for a number of years and was a member of the United Brethren Church.
For the past nine years she had been a resident of the Golden Age Lodge in Burlington and it was there her death came on Wednesday morning, Dec. 2, 1981.
She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Wilbur and Charles Johnson, and her sisters, Laura Houser, Emma Wickham and Anna Glass.
She leaves her daughters, Albert Marie Long, Overton Park, Laverne Gallagher, Gridley, and Claudia Welch, Burlington; five grandchildren; 11 greatgrandchildren; several nieces and nephews and other relatives.
She was a loving mother and a devoted grandmother and will be sadly missed by her family.
