THOMASVILLE--Mrs. Essie R. Jones, 84, died April 26, 2000, at Wake Forest University Medical Center in Winston-Salem. She was born May 25, 1915, in Davidson County, a daughter of P. Dewitt and Ida Myers Rothrock. She was a lifelong resident of Thomasville. She was a member of Fair Grove United Methodist Church, where she served on the administrative board, as an assistant Sunday School teach of the Christian Fellowship Class, past member of the executive board of the United Methodist Women, the Mary Crouse Circle and was a charter member of the Belle Bennett Guild. She married Claude W.(Jack) Jones, who preceded her in death on September 16, 1988. Surviving are a daughter, Diana J. Crews of Bassett, VA; two grandchildren, Lisa C. Atkins of Naples, FL, and Richard N. Crews of his wife, Angie, of Thomasville; a great-granddaughter, Erin Sides of Naples; two sisters, Vaden R. Blizzard of High Point and Blanche R. Fritts of Thomasville and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 2:30 pm, Saturday at Fair Grove UMC by the Rev. David L. White. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
