LaVerne Reed Price was born in 1900 to Isaac and Ann Price in Round Valley, Utah. He was a twin to Melverne Wingrove Price. The twins were the 9th and 10th of 12 children. Laverne's middle name was for his mother's maiden name, Reed. Melverne's middle name was for his paternal grandmother Mary Ann Wingrove Price. His twin brother Melverne died the same day they were born and was buried in the Round Valley Cemetery. LaVerne died 4 days later on July 4, 1900 and was buried with him. They were preceded in death by their older brother Isaac Elvin Price, who died 10 years earlier in the 1890 influenza pandemic.
