Obituary Xenia Gazette Jan. 8, 1891:
Died, at his home at Goes Station, Dec. 27th 1890, Mr. Philip Stutton after four weeks illness. Was born April 7th 1822, five miles east of Xenia. On November 22d 1843, was united in marriage to Miss Sarah Jane Hagler. As the result of this union, five children were born, Daniel, Samuel, William, Manerva and John. The latter preceeded the deceased to the grave seven years. Mr. Stutton united with the Methodist Episcopal church at the age of twenty and has always lived an upright, steadfast, Christian life. Those who saw him in the last days of his illness will bear witness of the calmness and resignation with which he welcomed death as a release from his sufferings and an entrance to a better life. He died in the triumph of Christianity, rejoicing that be would soon be with those who had gone before. The burial was at Woodland cemetery, Xenia, December 29th.
