Mr. John S. Sutton, one of the oldest and best known of New Jasper Township citizens, died at his home this morning about 4 o'clock. His death was entirely unexpected and was a great shock to his numerous friends throughout the community in which he had been a resident. Mr. Sutton was in Xenia on Saturday and on his return home in the evening was taken ill. A physician was summmoned and Mr. Sutton got better and talked and laughed with members of his family. But this morning his wife who slept in the same room went to his bedside and found that be had passed away.
He had been troubled with heart disease to some extent and death is ascribed to a sudden attack of neuralgia of the heart. Mr. Sutton was 75 years of age and was born in New Jasper township and spent his life there. He was married in 1857 to Catherine Beason and moved onto the farm in the Hagler neighborhood upon which he resided until his death. Besides his widow he leaves two children, Mrs. Alva Smith, of near New Jasper, and Charlie, at home. The following brothers and sisters survive: Mrs. John M. Peterson,
of near Maple Corner church, Mrs. Jacob Haglar, of Xenia, Mrs. Elizabeth Turner, of near Jamestown, Miss Sarah Sutton, of near Jasper and Messrs, B.R. and Daniel H. of near New Jasper. The interment will be at Woodland cemetery.
