Funeral services for Mrs. Claire Elaine Bass, 84, 1204 Miller Avenue, will be held Friday, December 12, 1975 at 10:30 a.m., at Nelson Boylan Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Robert Hill officating and burial in the Evergreen Cemetery on December 12, 1975.
Mrs. Bass died Monday, December 8,1975, at Vista Gardens Nursing Home after an extended illness.
The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jonathan Shearer, she was born September 10, 1891, in Montgomery County and lived all her life in this county except four years in Pottawattamie County. She had been a Red Oak resident since 1945.
She was married in January 20, 1914 in Red Oak, Iowa to Howard Leslie Bass, who died in 1974.
Surviving are a son, Gordon, Route 2, Red Oak; two daughters, Mrs. Carol Eckenrode of Hummelstown, Pennsylvania, and Helen Bass, Red Oak; eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; two sister, Mary Egan of Parker, South Dakota, and Florence Shearer of Omaha.
Mrs. Bass was a member of the DAR and Elliott Chapter No 458 of the OES.

Claire Shearer Bass had a third child Carol Pauline Bass. She was married 1st to Col Gerald C. Weeks, 2nd to Jim Eckenrode and 3rd to Ebert Bonsall. She was born in 1925 and died in 2005. She had 6 children with her first husband.
